This Week’s Episode:
“Observe with interest” is one of the nuggets of wisdom I say repeatedly thanks to my guest joining us today, Dr. Keith Witt. He teaches us that we can observe stories through an outside perspective, and when we do it with interest there are gifts just waiting for us. Dr. Witt is a licensed psychologist, teacher, author, and story practitioner who lives and breathes in story every day of his life.
He and I discuss the liberating and self-limiting stories in all our lives and the importance of feeling enchanted with whatever narrative we tell about ourselves and the world around us. You’ll hear about why transitioning from a negative to a positive story is a more complicated choice than it seems. We dig deep into the stories in our dreams and explore how dreams influence the narratives we share when we are awake plus we discuss techniques to interact with our dreams. Dr. Keith and I unpack why people can often feel resistance to telling, accepting, or sharing new stories. Get ready as Dr. Witt and I go deep in this mind blowing episode!
What you will learn in this episode:
- How our dreams impact the stories we tell ourselves
- What it takes to shift your story permanently
- How to harness your dreams to impact your life stories
Who is Dr. Keith Witt?
Dr. Keith Witt was born in Hawaii and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles. He decided to become a psychotherapist at age 15 after going to therapy himself and realizing he was a natural at it. Since then, he’s explored and followed his instinct, becoming a licensed psychologist who’s conducted over 65,000 therapy sessions.
He’s also a nationally and internationally recognized teacher and author of several books, including Shadow Light and Loving Completely. As founder of The School of Love, Dr. Witt has given presentations and classes that explored love, therapy, relationships, and personal development from multiple perspectives, integrating many forms of psychotherapy, traditions, and even neuroscience in the process.
He has lived and worked in Santa Barbara since 1967 where he met his wife Becky six years later. Still together, they enjoy life with their two grown children, Ethan and Zoe.
